Reminders for Italy

Below are some reminders that everyone needs to know:

1. Contact your bank and let them know you will be traveling internationally from May 24th - June 1st.

2. Contact your cell phone carrier and let them know you will traveling internationally during the dates above. A lot of the cell phone companies will work with you in creating a pro-rated roaming plan for the time we are gone.

3. Purchase some International phone cards as an alternative to cell phone usage.

Frequently Asked Questions

With a little over a month before we depart for Italy, I wanted to make sure all of the questions that have been asked get answered. In order to help with this, I have copied a link below to the Anthony Travel site that has numerous FAQ and answers outlined. There are also some answers to the questions I personally received. If you have further questions or concerns, please let me know.

1. How many players are traveling?

There are 62 players traveling and this includes some of our seniors that will be graduating this year.

2. How many coaches are traveling?

There will be 5 coaches traveling.

3. How many other adults/non-coaching adults will be traveling?

There will be 16 other adults traveling.

4. Are all credit cards accepted in Italy?

Yes.

5. What is the curreny used in Italy and what is the current exchange rate?

The Euro is the currency used in Italy. The current exchange rate (rates change daily) is
1 Euro = $1.36

6. What type of clothes need brought? Are shirts and shorts sufficient or does he need other types of clothes?

Comfortable clothes are highly suggested. The majority of the time we will be walking around seeing different places. Most guys last time wore kakhi or mesh shorts and a t-shirt. The weather is supposed to be warm, so I would bring cooler clothes and good walking shoes. Most dinners will be in the same clothes we travel in. He will need a nice pair of slacks for the banquet and a golf shirt.

7. Is my son responsible for all of his equipment, etc.?

He will take all of his equipment in a travel bag with him. He will need to bring enough undershirts, socks, and any other underneath clothing x3.

8. Is there any ability to do laundry on the trip?

No. There needs to be enough clothing packed for the whole trip. I would suggest sending some oxy clean packets that can be broken and used in the sink for hand washing clothes if really needed.

9. What extra spending money is needed for the trip?

We usually tell the guys to bring enough money to buy lunch every day, snacks, and any other items he might want. Most guys last time brought around $500, or put money on a debit card.

10. Do the players need to get themselves to the Cleveland airport, or is there going to be a shuttle?

We are currently trying to coordinate this aspect of the trip. Ideally, if you could get him to the airport yourself, or through carpool, that would be great. Last time we did shuttle some guys to the airport, and will do it again this time if needed. If we can avoid doing the shuttle, we ultimately save money which can be used for some of the trip's hidden costs.

11. In case of an emergency, is there going to be a way to contact an adult, or does my son need to make sure his phone works in Italy?

I will send out my phone number and another emergency number closer to departure time. I would talk with your son's cell phone provider about enhancing his package to an international one for the week we are gone.

12. What is the rooming situation while in Italy?

All player will be a triple room while in Italy.
